Modernism: Living and Breathing in South London

It has almost been 20,000 days since architecture critic Charles Jencks stated that Modernism had died. Modernism: Living and Breathing in South London objects to this claim. Modernism didn’t die and these buildings prove it. Modern London Talks is a tool for people to continue to breathe life into Modernism. This project invites you to tour some of South London’s most beautiful Modern buildings spend time with them, understand and nurture them. On the tour, the life that the inhabitants breathe into to them is evident and their spirit resonates within every structure. With the majority of these buildings being public housing or public spaces, you can see them functioning for the people in the way the architects intended. The buildings now belong to us, we help them and they help us. These architectural masterpieces are kept alive by you and me and our interactions with them, as long as we continue to use them, they will continue to live.
