Archive of a Memory

“Archive of a Memory” explores the preservation and cataloguing of lost spaces through first-hand accounts and drawings. While no space can remain in its original form forever, memories of it may still endure. Through a digital archive and proposal for workshops, this project documents and preserves memories of childhood bedrooms.
These recollections are often fragmented and incomplete, yet it is within this imperfection that they exist. Reconstruction as a process becomes a form of care and connection. Rather than recreating spaces exactly as they once were, the project preserves the memory as it is—with the stories, descriptions, and relationships that will never fully exist again. These are what help form our identities and tie us to our personal histories. Using projection, participants can experience these spaces again at life-sized scale.
While the current focus is childhood bedrooms, the methodology of retrieving and cataloguing memories can be applied more broadly to anyone whose spaces have been lost, altered, or taken away.
