Second skin exposes the violence hidden within beauty, presenting femininity as a performance shaped through discomfort, pressure and restraint. Using latex manipulated to imitate human skin, this garment transforms the body into a synthetic surface that feels both seductive and unsettling. The project reflects on the expectations placed upon women to remain desirable and polished, even at the expense of physical comfort. Through restrictive clothing and exaggerated texture, this piece explores the tension between attraction and unease, questioning how beauty standards shape the body into an object of performance. Influenced by the theatricality and emotional intensity of Alexander McQueen, the corset exaggerates the relationship between flesh, fashion and control. By replicating skin through artificial means, Second Skin confronts the quiet brutality embedded within ideals of femininity and the pressure to embody perfection.
