Little Wonders

Jason Tung

Why are we so afraid of failure? We all agree it’s necessary for growth, yet we associate it with anxiety, embarrassment, and frustration. It’s odd, failure is deeply natural, incredibly human, and usually leaves far more lasting memories than an easy success.

That contradiction inspired Little Wonders, a side-scroller game that reframes what it means to win. Starting with a simple directive to walk straight home and do nothing else, you encounter small opportunities to stray, like talking to a stranger or doing something playful.Choosing obedience leads to a quick, empty victory. Choosing curiosity leads to "failure," yet unlocks rich, meaningful cutscenes and deeper experiences. By reversing the traditional value of winning and losing, Little Wonders makes failure the most interesting part of the game. It challenges how society defines success, encouraging us to see risk-taking not as a mistake, but as a much more fulfilling way to live.
