Our bodies can always tell us a lot about ourselves. Gutter is a meal deal intervention, an experience designed to reconnect busy office workers with their bodily feelings and break the cycle of mindless lunch routines.
This project is a system that bridges between individuals and their gut feelings. When standing by the meal deal shelf, your phone receives a notification directing you to the digital “Gut Agent.” By analyzing your phone data, the Agent initiates a casual conversation to diagnose your current gut feeling.
Users are then guided to retrieve their "Letter from Gut" from the dispenser placed in the meal deal aisle, which drops a random sauce capsule to pair with their sandwich. The user inputs whichever archetype capsule they randomly received, and the Agent reveals their deep psychological reading, like a Tarot reading or a therapy session. These sauces are developed to represent four Jungian archetypes: The Persona, The Shadow, The Soul, and The Self.
The soft silicone Gut Letter is ergonomically designed for a satisfying squeeze. Combining unique flavours with advice from your Gut Agent, Gutter invites urbanites to slow down and relax by drawing their focus onto their personal feelings and their food, helping people rethink their relationship with their stress, bodies, and lives.
