Light is integral to our perception and understanding of the world around us.This project explores light not simply as illumination, but as a spatial material that shapes experience, atmosphere, and sense of place.
Through processes of filtering, diffusion, and materialisation, this work investigates how light and its temperature affects our emotional and physical response within a space. These explorations take the form of installations at varying scales, from suspended light-diffusing forms to site-specific interventions.
The suspended forms reveal almost biological textures through the manipulated fabric which invites close, tactile interaction. Further interventions involve masking windows and fixtures with coloured film, transforming familiar transitional spaces to encourage embodied presence. Large responsive curtains introduce a quiet choreography between light, translucency, and the audience.
Together, these interventions act as a prompt for attention and noticing. It promotes slowness, and an altered sensory engagement with space, dictated by the viewer.
