The artistic expressions which narrate the interludes of our daily lives – a song listened to on a walk, a tv show watched after work – have been undoubtably and irreversibly changed by the advent and evolution of technology, alongside access to space.
This project, in an effort to simplify the expansive question “how does technology influence cultural creation,” focuses on music technology as a facet of creation, as well as assessing the spaces culture comes to exist in. This analysis was done through acts of creation and re-imagining of existing technologies; in attempting to design objects anew we ask their users to interact with them differently and therefore create culture differently.
This project is an attempt at synthetic subculture – manufacturing objects with the intent of manufacturing culture.
