A Rainbow In Circulation' - A STEAM Museum Installation Proposal.
The immersive installation proposal describes how mimicking nature through design can create sustainable solutions to extractive systems. Using light, mist and a solar-powered circular water system, the work engineers a touchable circular rainbow around participants. It creates a constructed ecology using natural intelligence, mimicking an optical phenomenon, photosynthesis, and a natural water cycle; transforming sustainable biomimicry into an embodied sensory experience.
Nature's beauty shapes how we value the natural world. The rainbow is an unproductive phenomenon that holds importance; the way it moves us suggests that beauty can motivate deference. This work aims to utilise the rainbow’s power, to harness reverence for nature, and direct it toward a functioning vision of ecological attunement.
The proposal includes educational diagrams explaining the system's mechanics, encouraging visitors to imagine how similar principles could shape infrastructure, and an interpretive guide supports reflection, inviting consideration for how a balanced ecotechnological future might feel and be achieved.
