"Not Naked is a magazine that focuses on unravelling the hidden narratives woven within the garments we own. By fashioning oneself is to acknowledge clothing as an extension of our identity– a way of understanding dressing as a form of unity and distinction.
Dress codes are the focus for this issue. Through examining existing dress codes within various institutional and social contexts– oral history, interviews and photography are presented as methods to create playful discussion regarding the transgressive nature of restriction and conformity. In this issue, stories ranging from the power of garments in space to gatekeeping within subcultures are explored to provide a foundation towards understanding the power of dressing.
At its core, Not Naked’s aim is to separate the practice of dressing from high-fashion through borrowing its visual language and sensibilities, bridging the gap between the everyday person, clothing and the attitude carried throughout the wider culture of dressing."
