This project explores the depiction and confrontation of human struggle through the lens of character design and interaction.
Inspired by the growing practice of avatar creation in a post-COVID digital world, real human stories were realised into character designs representative of them.
Engaging with these characters in a variety of ways allows them to become a vessel of communication, letting people feel seen and comforted, while enabling them to talk about personal struggles without disclosing themselves.
Encountering these characters as reflections of ourselves invites empathy for struggles that often remain unseen.
